Guiding Perspectives

The four guiding perspectives of Prayer, Sacred Scripture, Natural Law, and Church Teaching assist you in decision-making about all life and loss issues.  Taken together, they are like the four legs of a stool, which make it sturdy.  May you find insight, inspiration and guidance in the resources listed below under these four main categories.

Natural Law
Natural Law draws from sociological, medical, scientific, and just plain common sense to reveal insights about God’s plan for human life. God created and ordered the world in a certain way. When we live in accord with God’s plan for creation, we live morally.

Prayer
God uses our prayers, novenas, and requests for the intercession of saints to give us grace during all of life’s joys and trials. As members of the Body of Christ, we are interconnected with God and one another. Asking for prayer from friends, living and deceased, reflects our communal nature and gives us the strength to do what is right even when it is difficult.

Sacred Scripture is the Word of God which provides timeless wisdom about God’s plan for human life. Biblical characters, passages and stories shed light on how to live the Christian life.

Jesus established the Church to teach His message to, “all the ends of the earth.” Through the Catechism, pastoral letters, and other documents the Church helps Christians form their conscience so they may know what is moral and good.
